Established in 1992, Taiwan Silicon Microelectronics Co., Ltd. has a paid-in capital of NT$50 million. The company is led by Mr. Zhang Yimin, a PhD in engineering, who has extensive experience in semiconductor packaging technology. Since its inception, the company has focused on developing electronic digital tire pressure gauges and has designed and produced silicon-based pressure sensors. In 1996 and 1997, the company obtained relevant patents in Taiwan and the United States, followed by additional product patents in Taiwan, China, and the U.S. in 2005 and 2006.
The main products include electronic digital tire pressure gauges and pressure gauges, as well as instruments produced in collaboration with KIL from the UK and UEI from the U.S., such as carbon monoxide detectors, refrigerant leak detectors, and electronic thermometers.
To upgrade the industry, in 2002, the company introduced oil-filled pressure sensor/transmitter technology from SSI in the U.S. and improved its quality, developing various derivative products such as level, low-pressure, temperature, and food-grade pressure sensors. In recent years, these products have been completed and are being sold across Europe and the U.S. Industrial digital pressure gauges (including temperature calibration circuits) have also been developed and are now in production and sales.
In response to Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT), the company has extended its product applications in this field, where the core technology is sensors. To meet demand, various existing pressure sensors and gauges are being integrated and developed with wireless transmission capabilities to send real-time data. The interconnectivity of data allows every device to connect to the internet. Simultaneously, a cloud computing platform is being established to leverage big data and artificial intelligence (AI) for industrial and home automation, facilitating the integration and monitoring of connected devices, enabling smarter decision-making, improving productivity, enhancing business processes, and increasing equipment safety.
